Terms of Use
Effective 7 October 2026
The short version: Factory Planner is free and provided as is. Your layouts belong to you. Use it lawfully and don’t abuse the service. Have a qualified professional check any plan before you build from it.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover your use of Factory Planner, including factoryplanner.net, app.factoryplanner.net and the demo. By using it, you agree to them. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean the independent developer who runs Factory Planner. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
The service
Factory Planner is free to use. We’re working on it all the time, so features may change, and we may suspend or shut down all or part of the service. If we plan to shut it down for good, we’ll try to give you reasonable notice so you can download your work.
Your account
You sign in with a Google or Microsoft account. You’re responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to your sign-in account secure. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms. If you use Factory Planner for an organisation, you confirm that you’re allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.
Your content
The projects and layouts you create are yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them only as needed to run the service for you: saving them, running the optimiser, producing exports, and showing them to the people you share them with. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for projects you’ve shared, which stay available to their other members.
When you invite people to a project, they can see and, depending on their role, change it. You’re responsible for who you invite.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- use Factory Planner for anything illegal, or to store content you don’t have the right to use;
- try to get into accounts or data that aren’t yours, or probe, scan or test the service’s security without our permission;
- disrupt or overload the service, including by sending automated requests at a volume a person using the app wouldn’t;
- upload malware or anything else designed to cause harm.
If you find a security issue, please report it as described in our security policy.
Plans are a starting point
Factory Planner is a planning aid. Layouts, travel figures, optimiser results and exported drawings are estimates based on the information you enter. They are not engineering advice, and they don’t certify compliance with building codes, fire and safety regulations, accessibility requirements, or equipment manufacturers’ specifications. Before you build, install or move equipment based on a plan, have it reviewed by a qualified professional.
Donations
Donations are voluntary and handled by PayPal. They help cover hosting costs, and don’t buy any features, support commitments or other benefits.
Ending your use
You can stop using Factory Planner at any time and delete your account from the app. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk.
No warranty
Factory Planner is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that your data will never be lost. Download copies of anything important.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any lost profits, revenue, data or business opportunities, arising from your use of Factory Planner or from decisions based on its output. Because the service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to US $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they apply to you only as far as your local law permits.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we do, we’ll post the new version here and change the effective date. If a change is significant, we’ll also point it out on the site. If you keep using Factory Planner after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
